About the project

City voices

The City Voices project aims to strengthen democracy, civic engagement, and youth participation in urban communities across the European Union. It focuses on empowering young people (aged 18–30), especially those with fewer opportunities and migration backgrounds, to actively shape their local environments and influence public decision-making.

The project introduces innovative, creative methods of community needs assessment—such as participatory photography, digital storytelling, podcasts, and interactive mapping—to help young people express their perspectives and identify local challenges. These activities will generate concrete outputs, including policy recommendations and a practical toolkit for youth workers and institutions.

Who We Work With

City Voices places particular focus on young people with fewer opportunities — especially first, second, and third generation EU citizens with a migration background, for whom access to democratic processes is often limited. At least 40% of all project participants come from this group.
